Gill Cowen is a contemporary mixed media artist based in Cape Town, known for her rich, textured oil paintings on canvas. A graduate of the Michaelis School of Fine Art, where she completed her postgraduate diploma, Gill’s practice explores materiality, mood, and memory through layered surfaces. Once a year, she steps outside her usual medium to collaborate on a playful digital series of works on paper with her daughter, that act as experimental snapshots of her creative process. These pieces offer a lighter, more whimsical counterpoint to her studio work, and reflect her continued curiosity and love of making.
