Green Dot

Gill Cowen is a contemporary mixed media artist based in Cape Town, known for her richly textured oil paintings on canvas. A graduate of the Michaelis School of Fine Art, where she completed her postgraduate diploma, Gill’s practice explores materiality, mood, and memory through layered surfaces and intuitive mark-making.

Once a year, she steps outside her usual medium to collaborate on a playful digital series of works on paper with her daughter. These experimental pieces act as snapshots of process and imagination ; offering a lighter, more whimsical counterpoint to her studio practice, while reflecting her ongoing curiosity and love of making.
