Imperance

Tayla Coetzee is a South African artist based in London, whose work blends delicate line drawings with vibrant, expressive oil paintings. Born and raised in Cape Town, Tayla continues to be inspired by the beauty of her natural surroundings. She spent much of her childhood in her grandmother’s garden and later, many years between Cape Town and the Overstrand, where the abundance of flowers and fynbos offered year-round inspiration. These early landscapes formed the foundation of her artistic vision; layered textures and botanical motifs often appear in her work as tributes to the places that shaped her.

Drawing from memory, place, and emotion, Tayla’s style is defined by a dynamic interplay of structure and spontaneity—clean, intentional lines meeting vivid, intuitive bursts of colour. Tayla’s work reflects her deep connection to nature and her ongoing exploration of colour as a language of joy and remembrance.
